Our Team

At Dar tal-Providenza, our homes thrive thanks to the dedication of many committed staff members, guided by a strong managerial team, the board of directors, our spiritual directors, and a safeguarding executive.

Together, they ensure compassionate care, professional standards, and a safe, supportive environment for all our residents.

The Board

The Board of Dar tal-Providenza is comprised of:

Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO)

Designated Safeguarding Officer

Id-Dar tal-Providenza has a person assigned to act as the focal point for safeguarding within that entity and as the point of contact between the entity and the Safeguarding Commission.

The DSO is responsible for:

  • ensuring that all personnel within the entity have a valid Safeguarding Clearance Certificate A
  • helping personnel to apply for the Safeguarding Clearance Certificate A
  • liaising with the Safeguarding Commission on all safeguarding matters
  • attending regular training recognised by the Safeguarding Commission on how to carry out the duties of the Designated Safeguarding Officer and how to train Id-Dar tal-Providenza personnel
  • delivering training on safeguarding to the Church personnel within Id-Dar tal-Providenza

Fr Martin

Fr Martin Micallef, son of John Micallef and Jane nee Bugeja was born in Luqa on the 10th November 1967.

He studied at Luqa Primary School, the Minor Seminary New Lyceum and the University of Malta where he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy and Theology and a Licentiate in Pastoral Theology. In September 1987, he entered the Archbishop’s Major Seminary to prepare himself for the priesthood.

He was ordained deacon on the 25th November 1994 at Luqa Parish Church and a priest on the 5th July 1996. He served as vice-parish priest at Tal-Ibraġ parish and later as parish priest at Għaxaq (2000 -2005) and Marsaskala (2005-2008). Since 2004 he has been a member of the National Commission Persons with Disability representing the Church in Malta. He is also a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Commission for Persons with Disability

He was appointed Director of id-Dar tal-Providenza on 1st October 2008. succeeding Mgr. Lawrence Gatt who was appointed Chancellor of the Archbishops Curia.
